Pep Guardiola's First Signing For Next Season Revealed?
Manchester City may have easily won the Premier League title, but Pep Guardiola is still keen on improving his squad, and the club's first signing ahead of the next campaign has now reportedly been revealed.
According to The Guardian, the Citizens are said to be closing in on the signature of African winger Riyad Mahrez.
The Leicester City star and 2016 PFA Player's Player of the Season was close to joining Guardiola's side in January, but the two sides were not able to agree on a transfer fee.
The Foxes were reportedly holding out for £95 million (R1.57 billion), an amount City were not prepared to pay.
However, the latest reports suggest that the clubs are now close to agreeing a deal worth an initial £60 million (R994 million), plus another £15 million (R249 million) in add-ons.
Guardiola is believed to be an admirer of the Algerian and switched his focus to the skilful winger after Alexis Sanchez decided to join Manchester United instead of City in January.
The 27-year-old scored 12 goals and assisted another 11 strikes in 36 Premier League appearances in 2017/18.
