The Citizens, who lost out on Italy international Jorginho to the Blues in this window, are still on the lookout for a central midfielder, and have been linked with the likes of Juventus' Miralem Pjanic, Real Madrid's Mateo Kovacic and Paris Saint-Germain's Marco Verratti.
After the final whistle at Wembley on the weekend, Guardiola confirmed that he and his club are trying to land one more signing in this transfer window.
"We are trying," Guardiola said, as quoted by FourFourTwo.
"We would like to find maybe one more because we do not have two specific players to substitute Fernandinho.
"But if he does not come, there will not be anyone else. I do not know (if we are close). I was focused on the final, so we will see."
The deadline for the Premier League's transfer window is 18:00 on 9 August, and after that, no side in England will be allowed to buy players, although they will still be allowed to sell footballers to certain other leagues around the world.
