Pep Now 7th Among Most Successful Managers, Closes In On Mourinho

With Manchester United having effectively handed Pep Guardiola the 23rd trophy of his career after losing to West Bromwich Albion on Sunday, there are now only six managers, including his longstanding rival Jose Mourinho, with more silverware than the Spaniard.

Click through the gallery above to see the six managers who won more trophies in their careers than Guardiola has so far.

United's surprising home defeat ensured that they cannot close the 16-point gap on Premier League leaders City, with both sides having just five games left to play. In doing so, Guardiola became the first Spaniard to win the Premier League title, his second trophy since joining Manchester City in 2016.

Despite being seven years younger than his old foe, Guardiola has now claimed just two titles less than his United counterpart.

The City boss lifted 14 trophies during his time at FC Barcelona, namely three LaLiga titles, three Spanish Super Cups, two Copa del Reys, two UEFA Champions Leagues, two UEFA Super Cups and two FIFA Club World Cups.

In addition, Guardiola also won three Bundesliga titles, two DFB Pokals, one UEFA Super Cup and one FIFA Club World Cup during three years at Bayern Munich.

The Premier League is his second title in England after he lifted the Carabao Cup with the Citizens earlier this season.

Guardiola now sits in seventh spot in the overall ranking of managers with the most trophies, but is closing in on Mourinho's trophy record of 25 titles during his managerial career so far.

The Portuguese, though, could still add the FA Cup to his collection. United are one of the four semi-finalists left in the competition, and will face Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Saturday. Chelsea and Southampton will contest the second semi-final on Sunday.
