After being snubbed by Jorginho, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has now reportedly identified a new main transfer target ahead of the new season.
According to Tuttosport, the Spanish manager is hopeful of luring Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic to the Citizens in this window.
The Bosnian has played an important role for the Bianconeri since his arrival in Turin in 2016, and is highly valued by the club's staff and manager Massimiliano Allegri.
City's interest in the 28-year-old comes after Jorginho rejected them for a move to Chelsea, where he has linked up with his former Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri.
The Italy international looked set to sign for the Citizens in this window, but the deal was seemingly and surprisingly hijacked by the Blues.
It has been claimed that City have already had a €50 million (R773 million) bid rejected for Pjanic, so they will need to up their offer if they are to stand a chance of landing his signature.
The midfielder has played 91 times over the past two years for Juventus, scoring 15 goals and assisting a further 28 strikes.
