Pep Guardiola Backs Arsenal Legend To Succeed Arsene Wenger
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola believes a certain Arsenal legend has what it takes to succeed Arsene Wenger at the north London club.
The 68-year-old announced last week that he will be ending his reign at the Gunners at the end of this season, and the likes of Carlo Ancelotti, Luis Enrique and Thomas Tuchel, among others, have all been tipped as his successor.
Speaking after the Citizens' 5-0 victory over Swansea City on Sunday, Guardiola backed former Arsenal star Patrick Vieira for the Emirates Stadium hot seat.
"Of course, he is ready," Guardiola said, as quoted by the Daily Express.
"He is already a top manager.
"With what has happened there will be a lot of names there, Arsenal will take the best decision for them but I think all the names will get mentioned and all of them are ready."
Following New York City FC's 3-0 loss to Portland Timbers on Monday, Vieira refused to comment on reports linking him with the Arsenal job
"I just want to talk about the game, I don't want to talk about nothing else," the Frenchman said, as quoted by FourFourTwo.
Pressed further, Vieira responded: "I don't have any comment to make. I just want to talk about the game and nothing else."
