The Red Devils and the Hammers played to a 0-0 draw in their midweek Premier League fixture, with the point securing second spot on the table for United.
Despite ending goalless, both sides had chances to win the game, especially United, who tested West Ham goalkeeper Adrian on many occasions. The Spaniard put in a sublime performance, though, justifying his place in the team over Joe Hart.
Late in the second half, a tackle from Pogba on Hammers skipper Mark Noble sparked a commotion and provided fans at the London Stadium with some entertainment.
After being clipped from behind by the Frenchman, Noble ran up to the 25-year-old in a fit of rage, putting his hands around the neck and in the face of his opponent.
Noble's retaliation from the tackle did not spark much of a response from Pogba, though, who rather amusingly allowed the West Ham midfielder to run amok.
Several other players from both sides got involved in the quarrel, including Hammers striker Andy Carroll and United’s Luke Shaw.
Following the draw, Mourinho joked that Pogba and Noble looked like a romantic couple rather than enemies.
"I was watching the images, and Paul and Noble looked in love," he said, according to the Daily Star.
"I was very far from it and when I saw the reaction of the players (at full-time), I believe it was nothing extraordinary."
Noble, who shook hands and seemingly made up with the Frenchman after the game, revealed that he is, ironically, one of Pogba's biggest admirers.
"The funny thing is I'm one of Paul's biggest fans," he said.
"My son only walked out with me today so he could see Paul Pogba.
"Paul gets a lot more stick than he deserves. He's at one of the biggest clubs in the world and gets a lot of pressure on his shoulders. You can tell he really wants to win. I said to him after there were no hard feelings, it happens.
"He's a top, top player and I think people should show him a bit more love."
While United have finished second on the table with one game to go, David Moyes' West Ham had guaranteed themselves a place in the EPL for the 2018/19 campaign last week.
