Paul Pogba: The Real Reason Why I Snubbed Los Blancos
Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba has admitted he was close to joining Real Madrid last season.
The 24-year-old returned to Old Trafford for a hefty fee of £89 million (R1.61 billion) after four years in Italy with Serie A giants Juventus.
In an exclusive interview recently, Pogba highlighted the fact that he had an opportunity to join the Spanish giants, but his "heart" told him to return to the Premier League and rejoin the Red Devils instead.
"To be honest, Real Madrid came to me, and I was thinking to go there, and I was thinking to go to Manchester United too," Pogba told Beyond the Pitch.
"But I always felt it in my heart. My heart told me to come back here.
"I don't know why, I didn't know what was going to happen, but I did it, and I don't regret. I never regret my choice."
The French star went on to play 51 times for the Old Trafford side last season, and lifted the Community Shield, League Cup and UEFA Europa League trophies.
