Despite playing an important role in his country's 1-0 UEFA Nations League win over Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal on the weekend, the 27-year-old is not enjoying his happiest moment as a footballer.
That is according to the former Juventus midfielder himself, who, in a recent interview, admitted he has never endured a spell as difficult amid his United woes.

"I had never known such a difficult period in my career," he told RTL.
"The France team is a breath of fresh air, the group is exceptional, it's magic."
Pogba has completed 90 minutes just twice in 11 games across all competitions for the Red Devils so far this season, while he has been named on the bench six times.
The Frenchman also gave away the penalty that resulted in United's 1-0 loss to Arsenal in the Premier League earlier this month, and has not been named in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's starting line-up since.
