Germany international Thomas Muller was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford when his former manager Louis van Gaal was in charge of the club.

During a recent interview with a German publication, the 27-year-old revealed that he considered a move to the Premier League club after his former coach contacted him, but later decided against the switch.

"There was a point, two years ago, when this was an issue when I thought about it," Muller told Kicker.

"But the club immediately supported me, and they told me I belonged here.

"When Bayern told me they needed me and how I am an important player, I did not have to think that much anymore."

Muller has seen himself being relegated to the bench more often than not since the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti, and is said to cut a frustrated figure as a result.

At that time he was tutored as one of those "one-team" players but now it seems he is likely to move should Carlo remain the coach
