The 2016 CAF African Footballer of the Year and African record scorer in the Bundesliga joined the Gunners after quite literally forcing his way out of Borussia Dortmund.
The news was initially broken by his former club Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday afternoon.
"Apart from the unpleasant events of the last couple of days, we like to remember that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's 4.5 years at the club were a success story," said BVB sporting director Michael Zorc.
"He has done great things for Borussia Dortmund at this time, scored many important goals and is part of the team that brought the DFB Pokal to Dortmund in 2017. We wish Pierre-Emerick all the best for his future at Arsenal."
Arsenal have since also confirmed the new club record deal.
Aubameyang joined Arsenal for a fee of €63.75 million (R927 million), breaking the previous record of Alexandre Lacazette, who cost the Gunners €53 million (R786 million) ahead of the current campaign but has since often failed to live up to his price-tag.
