The Anfield-based club announced in August 2017 that they had come to an agreement with RB Leipzig to sign Guinea star Naby Keita, who has been one of the German club’s standout players since 2014.
On Wednesday afternoon, Liverpool finally unveiled him as their player, with the 23-year-old being given the No. 8 shirt, formally worn by the legendary Steven Gerrard.
Speaking on his exciting move, Keita said that he has always been a huge admirer of the Reds.
"When you see how they performed last season it makes me want to do the same and to be a part of this team. I would like to be able to achieve a similar kind of season with them next season – but even better," he told Liverpool's website.
"I chose Liverpool because it is a team I watched often - and I also spoke a lot about it with Sadio (Mane). He told me a lot about the team and the club.
"I also spoke with the coach, who told me about the project for the team and that motivated me to be here."
Keita represented his former club on 81 occasions, scoring 20 goals and assisting a further 11 strikes.
