Chelsea's transfer ban was recently lifted, meaning the Premier League giants are free to sign players again, but their first bit of business of the January window has been to offload one of their midfield stars.
On Tuesday, via their official club website, the Blues confirmed that England international midfielder Danny Drinkwater had joined Aston Villa on loan for the remainder of the season.
The deal was also confirmed by the Villains, who announced Drinkwater's arrival at the across their various social media platforms and on their club website.
Upon the conclusion of the deal, Villa boss Dean Smith shared his belief that Drinkwater would strengthen his squad.
"Danny was a key member of Leicester City’s title-winning team and has represented England so he is a vastly experienced player," Smith said.
"He will strengthen our squad significantly."
Drinkwater, who was a key figure in Leicester City's 2015/16 Premier League title-winning side, had only recently returned to the Blues after enduring a failed spell on loan at Burnley.

The 29-year-old joined Chelsea from Leicester in 2017 for a reported transfer fee of £35 million (R558 million) but managed just 23 appearances before being moved on.
