The club have announced the arrival of 26-year-old centre-back Pablo Mari from Flamengo, who only joined the Brazilian side in July 2019.
The Spaniard has joined the Gunners on a loan deal, though the deal has an option to be made permanent at the end of the season.
"Pablo is an experienced player who will provide us with additional defensive quality," technical director Edu told the club's official website.
"We have been monitoring Pablo’s career for a while and we are very pleased to have reached an agreement with Flamengo for him to join us initially until the end of our season.
"Together with Mikel and his coaching team, we are all looking forward to seeing Pablo in an Arsenal shirt.”
Manager Mikel Arteta is familiar with Mari from the defender’s time at Manchester City, whose books he was on from 2016 until last year.
The player failed to make a single appearance for the Citizens, however, spending loan spells at Girona, NAC Breda and Deportivo La Coruna instead.
