Newcastle United have reportedly entered into talks with one of Barcelona's highest-paid players following the English club's major cash injection.
According to French publication Foot Mercato, Ousmane Dembele has been approached by newly-wealthy Newcastle ahead of the expiration of his Blaugrana contract at the end of the season.
The winger has not featured at all for the Catalan giants in this campaign due to an injury he sustained at the 2020 UEFA European Championship, although uncertainty over his future has been brewing.
It is claimed the former Borussia Dortmund star has held informal discussions with the Magpies over a potential five-year deal that could see him earn €15 million (R252 million) annually.
The news outlet also suggested that the France international could demand a €15 million signing-on fee seeing as he would likely join the Premier League side as a free agent.
In Spain, meanwhile, Dembele has reportedly been offered a new deal that includes a reduced salary given Barca's current economic struggles.
The 24-year-old joined the Catalan giants from BVB in 2017, and has since contributed to 51 goals in 118 matches across all platforms.
Here are 13 players who are said to be on Newcastle's shortlist following the club's takeover:
