Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has commented on the absence of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who pulled out just hours before their FA Cup tie.
Aubameyang was surprise omission when the starting line-ups were announced for the fourth-round tie at Southampton on Saturday afternoon.
It was revealed before the encounter that the Gabonese striker had missed out as he was dealing with a personal issue.
"He had a personal matter in the last few hours, we have had to send him back." Arteta said before the game.
The Gunners went on to suffer a 1-0 loss to Saints as the defence of their FA Cup title came to an end in the fourth round.
Aubameyang had just started finding the back of the net, but Arteta is unsure when the striker will return to the pitch.
"I don't know," Arteta said, when asked about Aubameyang's return, as per the Mirror.
"He needs to address that issue, we'll see how it evolves.
"We're here and we have to support him and he needs to take the time that is needed because that is a priority at the moment."
