Superstar Mesut Ozil is the highest earner at Arsenal, but with his days in London appearing to be numbered, he has now been linked with a shock move away from the Gunners.
Reports: The Four Players Zidane Would Sign For Man Utd
Following a tough 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign with Germany, which was followed up by the playmaker retiring from international football, Ozil has not had the best of starts to the season.
There are already rumours the 29-year-old and new Arsenal manager Unai Emery have fallen out, amid suspicions the boss is not sure Ozil suits his pressing system.
Emery is known to demand hard work and energy in midfield, characteristics the German is not exactly famous for.
However, the situation with Ozil is a tricky one, considering the fact that he is the best-paid player at the Gunners – he reportedly earns £350 000 (R6.8 million) a week at the club. Rewarded with the new contract towards the end of last season, it is set to expire in 2021 only.
However, according to Turkish news outlet Fotomac, Fenerbahce could make a move for Ozil in the January transfer window.
The club is said to be interested in capitalising on the player's current situation in England, while Manchester United are also said to be monitoring the superstar.
