Following the video game's latest database update, EA Sports has confirmed that Mason Greenwood has been removed from all FIFA 22 offline game modes.
Nike Suspends Contract With Greenwood
The 20-year-old was removed from all offline game modes and the Manchester United squad after the database update released on 1 February 2021.
The English forward's suspension from the game coincides with EA releasing a statement confirming their decision and giving details as to which game modes he has been suspended from.
"Mason Greenwood has been removed from active squads in FIFA 22 and has also been suspended from appearing in FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) packs and Ultimate Draft," an EA Sports spokesperson divulged to Manchester Evening News.
It is not the first time EA Sports has removed a footballer from the FIFA franchise following allegations of rape and sexual assault.
Manchester City left-back Benjamin Mendy was taken out of the game last year after being charged with four counts of rape and one sexual assault on three different women, including one under the age of 18, at his house.
Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault on Sunday after imagery surfaced on Instagram from an alleged victim claiming the Premier League player had abused her.
The Greater Manchester Police has since confirmed that he has been "further arrested" on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.
