The German's work permit has finally been approved, meaning that, following United's Premier League clash against Arsenal on Thursday night, he will take charge of the team and be in the dugout for their game against Crystal Palace this coming weekend.
Rangnick, who has spent the best part of the past decade working in advisory roles, is famous for his swift and sharp recruitment skills, with the 63-year-old having been credited with helping spot and develop many top players in world football.
Fans expect the legendary figure to play an important and influential hand in strengthening the Red Devils' squad, and, with the January window around the corner, that could happen sooner rather than later.
Several reports have suggested that Rangnick would love to bring RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara to England in January, a player he signed for the German club that he managed in the 2018/19 campaign.
Haidara is a versatile midfielder who is believed to be impressive in and out of possession, with it being widely thought that United will need to improve their midfield if Rangnick's gegenpress philosophy is to work at the club.
According to Bild, the interim coach will be handsomely rewarded with an incredible bonus if he manages to lure Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland to Old Trafford. Rangnick reportedly has a good relationship with the player's father.
The 21-year-old would likely only leave BVB at the end of the season, though, which is when Rangnick will begin his two-year consultancy role at United.
Brighton & Hove Albion right-back Tariq Lamptey has also emerged as a target for the Red Devils in recent days, as has Chelsea forward Timo Werner, whom Rangnick worked with at Leipzig, and attacking midfielder Christopher Nkunku.
