Manchester United were not expected to make any signings on deadline day, but reports in Italy suggest that the Premier League side has made contact with former Manchester City forward Edin Dzeko.
The AS Roma striker has reportedly fallen out with manager Paulo Fonseca and is desperate to secure a move away from the Serie A club.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Dzeko's new agent has been in contact with United, who have signed veteran strikers in recent transfer windows but are facing a race against time should they want to add the 34-year-old to their playing roster.
Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, however, did state recently that he does not expect any deadline-day arrivals at his club, casting doubt as to whether or not United are really after the former City forward.

"Bar something surprising happening I don't think anything will happen in terms of incomings, no," he said, as quoted by the Daily Express.
"I would be surprised if we do any incomings.
"The squad is strong, it is full of quality. I still need to leave players out of the squad at times."
Dzeko has scored 114 goals and assisted another 52 strikes in 242 appearances for Roma since joining the club from City in 2015.
