A Manchester United star, who got knocked out of the 2018 FIFA World Cup by Brazil, has talked up his potential partnership with the Red Devils' new South American signing.
Before the start of this year's tournament in Russia, the Old Trafford side announced the signing Fred, who moved from Shakhtar Donetsk for a reported fee of £52 million (R939 million).
Although the Selecao midfielder was an unused substitute against Serbia on Wednesday, Nemanja Matic said that he caught up with his new team-mate after the game.
"I spoke to him after the game, he is a great player, he will bring quality to our team," the former Chelsea said, according to FourFourTwo.
"We will see (if we can work together). I think we will understand each other very well."
Fred is yet to make an appearance for the Selecao at the World Cup, but he did play 37 times for his Ukrainian side last season.
