Currently one of United's best-paid players, the shot-stopper's current deal expires in June 2019, but the English giants have an option to extend it by a further year.
According to the Daily Mail, the Red Devils have offered the Spain international a brand new long-term contract that could see him earn more than £200 000 (R3.62 million) a week.
Should the 27-year-old sign the new deal, it has been suggested the former Atletico Madrid star will be entitled to a testimonial at the club come the 2021/22 season as he will have given the team 10 years of valuable service by then.
De Gea is reportedly happy with life in Manchester, and enjoys a good relationship with Jose Mourinho and goalkeeping coach Emilio Alvarez.
Despite a miserable 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign with Spain in Russia, he is still regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in world football, and United are hopeful this new deal will fend off any others teams trying to bid for their No. 1.
