The Red Devils are believed to be chasing a few big names in the market, but Jose Mourinho reportedly wants to bring in goalkeeper Lee Grant next.
The 35-year-old is currently on the books of Stoke City, who are understood to be prepared to let him go on a free transfer.
Grant joined the Potters in a permanent deal in January 2017, playing back-up to Jack Butland, while at United he would be third choice behind David de Gea and Sergio Romero, with Joel Pereira set to go out on loan.
Craig Norwood, who works as a photographer close to the Red Devils, was the first to announce Grant's transfer, which is set to happen this week, before Sky Sports also reported on the potential transfer.
Grant will be United’s third 2018/19 arrival after right-back Diogo Dalot and midfielder Fred.
