Man Utd's Next Manager Identified?

New reports suggest that, should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer be sacked as Manchester United manager, Antonio Conte would be interested in the position.

Ronaldo Breaks Silence After Damaging Liverpool Loss

Following the Red Devils' heavy and humiliating 5-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday, questions surrounding Solskjaer's job and future have, perhaps unsurprisingly, been raised.

The Norwegian has come under incredible pressure since the shock result, and admitted after the game that he is currently feeling lower than he ever has since replacing Jose Mourinho at the club's helm in 2018, first as a caretaker before being given the job permanently.

According to Italian football journalist Gianluigi Longari, who works for Sport Italia, former Juventus, Chelsea and Inter Milan manager Conte is interested in succeeding Solskjaer in Manchester should the English club's board terminate the ex-striker's contract.

It does, however, remain to be seen if the 2020/21 Serie A-winning boss would accept the post during the season, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently suggesting that Conte might prefer a new job at the end of the campaign only.

With the backlash of Sunday's performance, discussions among United's hierarchy are likely to be had given the severity of the situation, which caused thousands of supporters to leave Old Trafford before the 60th minute on Sunday.

Here are some more available managers should United be interested:

Former United right-back and captain Gary Neville feels that appointing Conte would be the wrong move, however, saying he does not believe the 52-year-old is suitable despite the success he has enjoyed in his career.

"They won't bring a hitman in again. A hitman who comes in and does a job for two years," he told Sky Sports.

"Conte's available but I wouldn't bring him to Manchester United. I wouldn't bring him here now, I wouldn't. I don't think Antonio Conte is a fit for Manchester United. I don't think he's a fit.

"I might be wrong, they might bring him here tomorrow and I'd get behind him. We've seen a coach with a specific style like Louis van Gaal didn't work here. I'm not saying there isn't a manager who can come to Manchester United and do well."

Zinedine Zidane has also been linked with United, although the Frenchman is also said to be on the radars of newly-rich Newcastle United and Paris Saint-Germain.
