Manchester United Make £96 Million Bid For Midfield Star
Jose Mourinho is said to be desperate to sign a top midfielder for Manchester United in this transfer window, and new reports suggest the Red Devils have made a £96 million (R1.5 billion) bid for a certain player.
According to Radio Sei, United had scouts watch Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic on many occasions this past season.
Clubs such as FC Barcelona and Juventus have also reportedly shown interest in the 23-year-old, but it has now been claimed that the Red Devils may have the upper hand in the race for his signature due to the player’s close relationship with countryman Nemanja Matic.
Mourinho is said to be looking at playing a three-man midfield next season, and wants to replace the retired Michael Carrick, and possibly Marouane Fellaini, who could be leaving the club too.
It is believed that United has made a £96 million (R1.5 billion) bid for the Serbian international, while it has also been said that the club would like to complete the deal before the 2018 FIFA World Cup kicks off.
Lazio are reluctant to let the player leave in this transfer window due to his importance to the team, but Milinkovic-Savic apparently wants to work with Mourinho.
The midfielder would become the most expensive buy in Uniteds history, and would likely see the club withdraw their interest in Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred.
Milinkovic-Savic was in incredible form for Lazio this season, scoring 14 goals and creating a further nine strikes in 48 games across all competitions.
