However, the Red Devils still sit a whopping 13 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City, and United's crosstown rivals could extend this gap to 16 points if they beat Stoke City on Monday night.
As a consequence, Mourinho is reportedly planning another massive transfer window, and has apparently identified Juventus left back Alex Sandro as one of his key targets.
According to the Daily Mirror, United are prepared to pay about £70 million for the 27-year-old, but Juventus will reportedly not let the Brazilian go without a fight.
The Manchester club is said to be prepared to double the player's current wages to £145 000 (R2.38 million) per week, which would make him one of the highest earners at the club.
