Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is believed to have entered the race for a £53 million star who has been heavily linked with Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool in this transfer window.
France international and Olympique Lyon attacker Nabil Fekir was on the verge of signing for the Merseyside club before the start of the 2018 FIFA World Cup for a reported fee of £53 million (R960 million), but the deal reportedly did not go through due to issues that arose during the 24-year-old's medical tests.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has now claimed he recently met with Red Devils manager Mourinho, hinting that a potential transfer for the player was on the agenda.
"I was with Jose Mourinho the other day. We had long discussions," Aulas told beIN SPORTS.
"Personally, I am no longer in discussions with Liverpool. At the moment, we are waiting for France and Nabil to have a fantastic World Cup."
Fekir, who was selected for Ligue 1's 2017/18 Team of the Season, made 40 appearances for Lyon last season, scoring 23 goals and assisting a further eight strikes.
