In-form Manchester United star Anthony Martial is two goals short of enjoying his best ever campaign with the Red Devils and has been likened to five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo by interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
A brace by Paul Pogba and a fine sole effort by Martial saw United secure a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Fulham at the weekend, extending their unbeaten streak to 11 games in all competitions since the sacking of former coach Jose Mourinho in December.
Martial made history in 2015, when he became the most expensive teenager in football history following his move from AS Monaco to United.
Having previously been advised what to do to follow in the footsteps of the former Real Madrid star
, United's manager drew comparisons between the 23-year-old's strike at Craven Cottage over the weekend to a similar goal netted by the Juventus superstar at the same ground in 2007.
"Yes, it was towards the end of the game and we played a very poor game and Cristiano scored it," Solskjaer is quoted as saying by Sky Sports Football.
"He (Martial) does have similarities, of course. If he wants to be at Cristiano's level, Anthony knows what he has to do. It's up to him. He has the talent."
"I am glad he is in my team," the Norwegian added. "He has contributed to so many chances, so many goals.
"He is a Manchester United player. He excites the crowd. He excites the manager. He excites his team-mates. And he is a great character around the place."
Martial has managed to find the back of the net on nine occasions in the Premier League this season, just two shy of his best ever campaign at the club which came in his first season at Old Trafford.
