Man City Star 'Told' He Can Leave

Reports suggest that Manchester City are prepared to let one of the club's star players go in the upcoming transfer window.

Mbappe's Real Madrid Signing-On Fee Revealed?

According to the Daily Mail, the City hierarchy are willing to let Germany international Ilkay Gundogan leave as he enters the final 12 months of his current deal at the Etihad Stadium.

Gundogan, who joined the Citizens from Borussia Dortmund in 2016, is reportedly looking for regular starting XI action, and with Pep Guardiola's side littered with midfield talent, that is not a guarantee the reigning Premier League champions can give him.

The central midfielder has been an important cog in the City machine ever since his €27 million (R453 million) arrival, with this campaign being no different. He has featured 42 times in all competitions for the blue half of Manchester this season, but it seems his services are now surplus to requirements.

It was reported earlier this month that City have acquired the services of another Dortmund player in the form of Erling Haaland, and with the likes of Fernandinho leaving the club at the end of the season, it would seem that Guardiola is disposing of certain senior players in an effort to inject some youth into the side.

Whether Gundogan ends up staying or leaving City in the next window, the 31-year-old has already cemented himself as the most successful German player who has graced the English top flight, having scored 34 goals and secured three Premier League winner's medals, the most by any German in the EPL's history.

Gundogan is said to have been given permission by the club's chiefs to explore his future with other clubs, with an extension on his current deal unlikely.

Possible landing spots for the 2011/12 Bundesliga winner have yet to emerge, but Real Madrid are said to be long-time admirers of the player, having tried to sign him before he moved to City.

Here are 10 players who are confirmed to be leaving their respective clubs at the end of the 2021/22 campaign:
