Manchester City's No. 1 Transfer Target Revealed?
It has been reported that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has identified his main transfer target for the January window.
According to the Daily Telegraph, the Spaniard is close to securing Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk's signature.
The Netherlands international is also reportedly being chased by Liverpool and FC Barcelona.
The 26-year-old has found himself on the Saints' bench or left out of matchday squads completely in recent games, and his current boss Mauricio Pellegrino recently admitted that the player's future at the club is uncertain.
City are said to be in the market for a central defender due to Vincent Kompany's ongoing injury struggles, while John Stones has also spent quite a bit of the campaign on the sidelines.
Many believe Van Dijk's ball-playing style, pace and composure would suit the current Premier League leaders.
The player was said to be on the verge of joining Liverpool at the beginning of the season, but could now be lured to the Citizens for a fee of about €80 million (R1.1 billion).
