Before the match on Saturday, Guardiola publicly stated that Pogba's agent had offered the player to the Citizens in the January transfer window.
A red-hot Pogba inspired the Red Devils to a second-half comeback in the derby, scoring a brace in United's 3-2 win over their local rivals.
After the final whistle blew, City's manager was seen having a lengthy chat with the 25-year-old midfielder on the pitch, and he has since insisted he was just commending the player on the victory.
"I went to congratulate him on the result," he said, according to Manchester Evening News.
Despite Guardiola's claim, many feel there was perhaps more to their conversation than a discussion about the result.
City's next league outing is against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Saturday, and three points at White Hart Lane would win them the title.
