Yaya Flirts With Man Utd Transfer

Manchester City Legend Yaya Toure Flirts With Manchester United Transfer

Manchester City legend Yaya Toure has controversially flirted with the idea of possibly joining crosstown rivals Manchester United, admitting he would like to teach Paul Pogba a thing or two.

The 35-year-old, who is a free agent at the end of June, joined the Citizens back in 2010 from FC Barcelona, and his heroics have since seen the club honour him by renaming their academy field after him, calling it the Yaya Toure Pitch.

With his immediate future not quite finalised yet, Toure has now refused to rule out a move to the Red Devils, suggesting that with Michael Carrick retiring this season, there could be an opening for him at Old Trafford.

"Yeah, he (Carrick) just left. We will see, we will see," Toure told Manchester Evening News.

"I do not rule big teams out. The big clubs are essential for me. What they want to achieve, the way they want to go, for me is very important.

"It is going to be hard one day to play against City, but I have to do that. It is part of my job."

The Ivorian also admitted he would like to play with and teach France superstar Paul Pogba a few things.

"Pogba – it is difficult because of the way the media has treated him. We do not have the same characteristics because, for me, I was involved in all the ball, I ran everywhere," Toure added.

"Pogba is the same size, power – but different in the way he wants to go. Technically as well, the ability to score goals as well. He is a player I want to play with, to be honest, to teach him some things."

However, when put to him that his previous comment made it sound like he would definitely be interested in a switch to United, the former FC Barcelona seemingly had a change of heart.

"No, no, no, no. The fans are going to kill me!"

Yaya's New Club Revealed?

Toure made 316 appearances for City, scoring 79 goals and assisting a further 50 strikes.

Do you think the former Ivory Coast captain would make a good mentor for Pogba? Have your say in the comments section below.
