Pep & Yaya At Loggerheads Again?
Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola & Yaya Toure At Loggerheads Again?
It appears that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and club stalwart Yaya Toure are at loggerheads once again after the Spaniard seemingly refused to comment on whether or not the Ivorian would replace the injured Fernandinho in the club's next match.
The Citizens meet North London side Arsenal in the Premier League on Thursday evening for the second time this week, having run out 3-0 winners in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.
Toure, who was left out of City's League Cup final squad despite featuring in every round beforehand, is expected by many to step in for the injured Brazilian, but Guardiola remained coy on whether or not that will happen when asked.
"It depends on him," the former FC Barcelona boss said, as quoted by FourFourTwo.
"It's simple like that, it depends on him."
Guardiola was also asked what the African needed to do to get a spot in his starting XI.
"It depends on him," he repeated. "If he's coming back as who he is, he's going to play. Yeah, (he is fit)," the former Bayern Munich manager added.
The former Ivory Coast captain was banished from the first team at the beginning of last season amid a public spat between his agent Dimitri Seluk and the Spanish tactician.
The 34-year-old midfielder has made 11 appearances for City so far this season, and is yet to score a goal in this campaign.
