Jurgen Klopp's side has announced the signing of Japan international Takumi Minamino from Red Bull Salzburg for a reported fee of £7.25 million (R135 million), with the player to join up with the team on 1 January, when the transfer window opens.
In a statement on the club's official website, Minamino revealed his delight at joining the Reds, and shared his ambition to win the Premier League with the club.
"It has been a dream, my dream to become a Liverpool player. And I'm so excited that the moment has come true," the Japanese forward said.
"To play in the Premier League was one of my targets. I think this is the top-class league in the world; I was thinking if my career as a footballer progressed smoothly, someday I would be able to play in the Premier League.
"But I never thought I would be able to play in this team and I'm really happy about it. I'm looking forward to it.
"... My target is to win the Premier League and the Champions League, and to make good contributions to the team."
The 24-year-old recorded 64 goals 44 assists during his 199-game stay with Salzburg, and becomes the first-ever Asian player to sign for the Reds.
Minamino is the third former Salzburg player to join Liverpool in recent seasons, following the club's acquisition of Naby Keita (from RB Leipzig) and Sadio Mane (from Southampton) in 2016 and 2018, respectively.
