Jurgen Klopp heaped praise on his players after their record-breaking 2018/19 Premier League campaign, and also spoke about how the Reds can beat Pep Guardiola's Manchester City to the league title next season.
Despite suffering only one defeat all campaign and having amassed a staggering 97 points this season – the most points collected in a season by the club in their 127-yeear existence – the Merseysiders were pipped to the title by the Citizens, who became the first team to secure back-to-back EPL titles in a decade.
After the Reds' win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday, Klopp reflected on his side's impressive season and claimed they will have to be even better if they are to dethrone City in 2019/20.
"First of all, I have to say congratulations to City. They played an incredible season, we did too," he said, according to the Daily Mirror.
"As long as City are around with the quality they have, the financial power and all that stuff, it's not like any other team will pass them easily. That's clear.
"So we need to be very, very close to perfection to win the Premier League. But we have made unbelievably big steps and I really expect there's more to come."
Klopp also acknowledged the individual brilliance of his players, with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane ending the campaign as joint Golden Boot winners along with Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, while Alisson Becker won the Golden Glove award following his 21st clean sheet.
"Twenty-one clean sheets is quite impressive. Trent (Alexander-Arnold) smashed all stats for assists for fullbacks, Robbo (Andy Robertson) was close and we had two of the top goalscorers. All my players, eh!" the German tactician added.
"So if I were to start telling you all the positive things about this team, we would sit here until an hour before the Champions League final.
"This team is pretty special and one of the best to have played for Liverpool, 100%."
