Not many gave Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team a chance at Old Trafford on Sunday, but after going 1-0 up through Marcus Rashford late in the first half, United led for most of the match.
The home side defended well, with neither Sadio Mane nor Roberto Firmino able to really test goalkeeper David de Gea, until substitute Adam Lallana was left unmarked at the far post in the 85th minute to equalise for the Reds.
Klopp cut a frustrated figure after the 1-1 draw, and was critical of United's defensive approach to the game, but was not surprised.
"It's just a point. When I've been in England, Man United have pretty much set up like this," he said, according to the Daily Mail.
"Everyone built it up (the game) like a mountain, but one team set out to defend and one team made the game.
"We didn't lose anything, it's just a point. Let's carry on."
Mourinho, who was working as a pundit after the game, reacted to Klopp's comments by saying the ex-Borussia Dortmund boss simply did not like the outcome of the match.
"He didn't like the menu," he said of the former Borussia Dortmund boss' reaction to the game.
"He likes meat and got fish, so of course he's not happy.
"United, with the limitations they have, played a different profile of performance. They were always compact."
While Liverpool's lead at the top of the table is now down to six points, United are still just two points above the relegation zone.
