Jurgen Klopp Aims Dig At Jose Mourinho?
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp seems to have had a little dig at Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho over his handling of Mohamed Salah during their time together at Chelsea.
The Portuguese coach signed the Egyptian for £11 million (R186 million) from Basel in 2014, when he was still in charge of the Stamford Bridge club, but things did not work out for the player as he made only 19 appearances during his time in London.
Klopp has now questioned Mourinho's judgement of talent as a result, with Salah having since gone on to become the Reds' club-record signing after a successful spell in Serie A last season.
"We played against him (Salah) when he was at Basel and we didn't know him," Klopp said, as quoted by the Daily Express.
"We played with Dortmund against him and it was 'what the f***'. It was unbelievable.
"The question is 'what did you not see in him?' because he played all-inclusive football.
"He was quick, he played a lot of games, he creates goals, chances, he scored by himself. He was involved in pretty much everything for Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations.
"He is a left-footed player and we don't have too many of them in the team. It all makes him really valuable for us.
"A lot of players have shown it is quite easy to struggle at Chelsea, Kevin De Bruyne is one.
"The only thing that we really ignored (when looking at Salah) was what he did at Chelsea."
Salah kick-started his Liverpool career with a goal in the Reds' 1-1 draw against Wigan last week.
