Although Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp was charged for his actions this past weekend, a high-profile football personality has claimed that if it was Jose Mourinho who did what the German did, the Portuguese boss would have got a 25-match suspension.
Following the Reds' last-minute winner against Everton in the Merseyside derby on Sunday evening, Klopp stormed the pitch at Anfield to celebrate the goal.
What perhaps added to the celebrations was the freakish way in which it was scored, with Toffees goalkeeper Jordan Pickford uncharacteristically gifting Divock Origi the chance to head the ball in after the stopper failed to hold on to a high and mishit effort from Virgil van Dijk.
Despite being charged for the infraction, Klopp is yet to find out his punishment, but Arsenal legend Paul Merson believes Mourinho would be worse off if he was in the German's shoes.
"(If it was Mourinho,) it'd be a 25-game ban – I dread to think," he said on Sky Sports' The Debate, according to the Daily Star.
"Put it this way: if that was Jose, he'd have got sent straight to the stands as soon as he got back to his technical area. Jose got sent off at Southampton for going outside his technical area.
"It's horses for courses – everyone loves Jurgen Klopp, apart from Manchester United fans.
"It's one of them where it's a case of 'Don't do it again' – no-one got hurt and Marco Silva was fine with it."
