Sky Sports named Romelu Lukaku as one of the rejects on the list, despite the fact that he currently plays under Mourinho at Manchester United, along with Juan Mata, who was also been named on their list.
Both players were sold by Mourinho at Chelsea and went on to shine at their next clubs, but for the time being, they are important players in the Portuguese tactician's Red Devils side.
Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is also among those listed by Sky Sports, as he was hardly given a chance by the manager at Chelsea, before being sold to Wolfsburg in 2014.
Leonardo Bonucci played under Mourinho at Inter Milan, but was unable to break into the manager's plans at the Nerazzurri. The Italian made just seven senior appearances at Inter before his exit in 2009, but is recognised as one of the world's leading centre backs today.
Ryan Bertrand is another player who excelled after being sold by Mourinho, as is Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, who left Chelsea for Roma on a permanent deal just last year.
David Luiz was sold to Paris Saint-Germain in 2014 by the former Blues boss, but has shone since his return to Stamford Bridge. The player was one of the Blues' key figures in their 2016/17 Premier League-winning campaign.
Ex-Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu has been in excellent form for Southampton since leaving the Blues in 2015, and the same can be said of Ezequiel Garay, who was sold by Mourinho at Real when he was 24 years old.
Filipe Luis' spell at Chelsea in 2014 was also deemed not good enough by Mourinho, but since moving back at Atletico Madrid, he has proved his quality as one of La Liga's best left backs.
