The Express claim Mourinho will continue his revamp and focus on defensive improvements.
It is believed he targets four to five signings, with Benfica centre-back Ruben Dias high on his wish-list. The 22-year-old reportedly has a £80 million (R1.55 billion) release clause and is also being chased by Manchester City and Liverpool, which will make it tricky for Spurs to snatch him up.
A cheaper alternative would be AFC Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake, who could be available for £40 million (R774 million) in case the Cherries would get relegated. However, Chelsea are believed to have a buy-back or first refusal clause for the Netherlands international.
Mourinho reportedly also wants new full-backs and is looking at Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell and OGC Nice’s Youcef Atal, with the latter understood to be valued at £25 million.
Norwich City’s Max Aarons is another right-back option, with the 20-year-old understood to be available for just £15 million (R290 million).
