The Portuguese is preparing for his third season at the club, and wants to bring in reinforcements after finishing the 2017/18 campaign trophyless.
Brazil midfielder Fred will reportedly become his first acquisition, with Sky Sports suggesting that the 25-year-old Shakhtar Donetsk player has been given permission to leave the Brazil camp in England to complete a medical at United on Monday.
Selecao coach Tite has insisted he is keen to see the transfer, rumoured to cost in the region of £50 million (R846 million), being completed soon.
"When this happens, and it is inevitable, they are going to come to us, and our advice to them is resolve this as soon as you can so your head is back with us and focusing on the national team," Tite said.
"If I was a manager, I'd ask to sign him as well."
Fred joined Shakhtar from Brazilian side Internacional in 2013 and has since made 155 appearances for the Ukrainian giants, scoring 15 goals and assisting another 15 strikes.
He was closely linked with United's crosstown rivals Manchester City in January, but Pep Guardiola has now shifted his focus to Fred's countryman Jorginho, who opted to represent Italy instead of Brazil.
