The Portuguese tactician is understood to still be on the hunt for a new striker, with first-choice attacker Harry Kane sidelined by injury for the foreseeable future.
Amid rumours linking Spurs with the likes of Islam Slimani, Krzysztof Piatek and Luka Jovic, the Premier League side has now reportedly settled on a new target.
According to AS, Spurs will sign Willian Jose from Real Sociedad, and has been claimed the target man, who has scored eight goals for La Real this season, is already on his way to England.
The 28-year-old extended his contract with the LaLiga side in October 2018, and while his new is set to expire in 2024, it also includes a hefty €70 million (R1.1 billion) release clause.
However, it is believed that Spurs will not have to pay the full amount if a deal between the two clubs is struck.
Jose's first team in Europe was Real Madrid, having initially been signed for the club's reserve side in 2014, but failed to live up to expectations as he made just one first team appearance for Los Blancos. Overall, the Brazilian forward has scored 53 goals in 130 appearances for Sociedad.
