Jose Mourinho Lining Up Serie A Star To Replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic?
Jose Mourinho is reportedly lining up a Serie A star as a long-term replacement for the ageing Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
According to Yahoo Sport, the Red Devils are planning for life without the former Sweden international, and have identified Torino striker Andrea Belotti as a suitable candidate.
Ibrahimovic, 36, will be a free agent come the end of this season, and is expected to continue his career either in the US or China.
Mourinho has reportedly identified Belotti as the perfect forward to provide competition for Romelu Lukaku in the next campaign.
The Italian star, who apparently has a release clause of €100 million (R1.48 billion), has also been linked with Chelsea in recent months, but there has been no indication as to whether or not he would like to leave Serie A.
Torino president Urbano Cairo has made it clear that his club do not want to sell their prized asset, and insisted that if they did sell him, it would be for nothing less than his buyout clause.
"It's the market that dictates the prices," Cairo said, as quoted by the Daily Star.
"If Coutinho is sold for €160 million, then perhaps, if Belotti goes back to doing what he usually does, (his release clause) will be low."
The 24-year-old has made 18 appearances across all competitions for his club so far this season, scoring seven goals and assisting three further strikes.
