With the transfer window closing in just nine days, Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho was asked if he is interested in a certain Paris Saint-Germain player, and jokingly replied that he would like to get Kylian Mbappe this month.
The Portuguese tactician has made just one signing so far in January, with Gedson Fernandes joining the Premier League side on an 18-month loan deal with an option to buy.
However, Spurs are said to still be in the market for a striker after Harry Kane picked up a long-term injury, and, as a result, Mourinho was recently asked if he would be interested in signing PSG attacker Edinson Cavani, who has reportedly handed in a transfer request at the Parc des Princes.
"I have a very good relationship with (PSG president) Mr. Nasser Al-Khelaifi and (PSG sporting director) Mr. Leonardo, and I want to keep a great relationship," he said, as quoted by Eleven Sports.
"Good relationships are based on respect, and I'm not going to speak about a player from Paris Saint-Germain.
"Unless you want a joke. If they are my friends, they could send Mbappe on loan."
Spurs have been linked with the likes of Real Madrid's Luka Jovic, AC Milan forward Krzysztof Piatek and AS Monaco's Islam Slimani, but it remains to be seen whether or not they can complete any of these deals before the window closes.
