Mourinho Breaks Impressive Man Utd All-Time Record

Jose Mourinho has begun his reign at Manchester United by breaking an impressive all-time record, one even Sir Alex Ferguson failed to achieve.

The Portuguese tactician replaced Louis van Gaal on 27 May, and has already left his mark with the Premier League giants, after signing Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Paul Pogba for a combined fee of €185 million (R3 billion).

But it is not only his off-pitch activity that has impressed United's faithful and pundits alike – the Red Devils' first four competitive games this season have raised hopes he can lead the club back to former glories.

Mourinho has now become the first United manager in the club's history to win his first four competitive games in charge, as pointed out by Opta Sports.

The Red Devils beat Leicester City 2-1 in the FA Community Shield, then won their Premier League opener at AFC Bournemouth 3-1 and beat Southampton 2-0 in Mourinho's first competitive match at Old Trafford as United boss, before Saturday's last-minute 1-0 win over Hull City.

The United boss was in high spirits after the latest victory over Hull, thanks to a 92nd minute goal from Marcus Rashford, and insisted his target is to win the league title in his first season at the club.

"Our objective is only one – to be champions," he said via the club's official website.

"You have to play to win every game. If we don't win, we don't win, but the mentality is there and the boys are giving everything."

Meanwhile, Sir Alex Ferguson – the most successful manager in the club's history – began his 26-year reign with a 2-0 defeat to Oxford Trafford in 1986.
