Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard has been linked with a big-money contract.
According to Football Insider, the England international is currently in talks with United regarding a new long-term deal, with his current contract expiring at the end of this season.
It is claimed that the 20-time English champions are preparing a lucrative new offer for the player, who appeared to rediscover his best form while on loan at West Ham United last season.
Lingard joined the Hammers on a short-term deal in January 2020 and scored nine goals in 16 matches for the London club, whom he was on target against at the weekend.
The 28-year-old was brought on with the teams level at 1-1 on Sunday before he found the match-winner for the Manchester club with an incredible 89th-minute effort.
Lingard has reportedly already rejected one contract offer from the Red Devils, with the player concerned that his playing time will be cut drastically short following the high-profile arrivals of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho.
While manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be ready to hand the player more game time, other publications have stated that he and the board are desperate to avoid losing Lingard for free at the end of this season.
From January 2022, the Three Lions midfielder will legally be allowed to enter into talks with interested suitors should he not sign a new contract before then.
