International Champions Cup Report: Manchester City v Borussia Dortmund 21 July 2018
Riyad Mahrez made his debut for Manchester City as they lost 1-0 to Borussia Dortmund in the International Champions Cup, but Pep Guardiola was not happy with the Bundesliga side.
Claudio Bravo and Riyad Mahrez were the only recognisable senior players in the the Citizens line-up, with most of City's first team player still on holiday.
City struggled with their usual possession football for most of the first half, although Dortmund failed to carve out a clear cut opening in the opening 20 minutes
.With 28 minutes played, the Bundesliga outfit were awarded a penalty after Christian Pulisic was brought down by Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Mario Gotze took responsibility and calmly slotted home the spot-kick to hand Dortmund lead midway through the stanza.
Despite not carving out a single clear chance in the first half, Guardiola only made one change at the break as Joe Hart replaced Bravo.
Mahrez and Brahim Díaz showed some good link up play as the second half went on, but the Citizens lacked the killer edge even with the introduction of Leroy Sane with 20 minutes remaining.
