International Champions Cup

Result: Manchester City 3-0 Tottenham Hotspur

Date: 30 July 2017

Venue: Nissan Stadium

Manchester City proved too strong for Premier League rivals, Tottenham Hotspur as they romped to a 3-0 win in the International Champions Cup.

City's new signings Kyle Walker, Ederson and Danilo were all handed starts on the night, although there was no spot in the line-up for Sergio Aguero.

Pep Guardiola's charges opened the scoring inside 10 minutes as John Stones headed home Kevin De Bruyne's free-kick for his second goal in as many games.

After quiet start from Spurs, they nearly leveled matters in the 29th minute but Ederson produced a fine save to keep out Christian Eriksen's long range effort.

City pushed for more goals and they went close on two occasions before the break, as Danilo and David Silva forced Hugo Lloris into fine saves.

The score remained 1-0 at the halftime break.

Guardiola opted for four changes at the start of the second half, as Yaya Toure, Aguero, Phil Foden and Samir Nasri were introduced.

City went agonisingly close to doubling their lead after 68 minutes when Aguero hit the upright twice in the space of three minutes.

However, the Citizens were not to be denied five minutes later when Raheem Sterling got on the score-sheet. The winger latched onto a pass from Samir Nasri before slotting into the bottom corner, 2-0.

Eriksen went close with another long-range after 81 minutes but Aro Muric was equal to the task once again, while Vincent Janssen header turned away by the City goalkeeper a few minutes later.

City rounded off the victory in the first minute of stoppage time as Brahim Diaz slotted home from close range after Nasri's initial effort was blocked, 3-0.
