Result: Bayern Munich 6-0 Hamburg
Date: 10 March 2018
Venue: Allianz Arena
Robert Lewandowski bagged a hat-trick to inspire Bayern Munich to an emphatic 6-0 win over Hamburg in the Bundesliga on Saturday evening.
The hosts took the lead after eight minutes as a failed clearance landed at the feet of Franck Ribery, who skipped past a challenge before firing home from close range.
Four minutes later, Bayern doubled their lead as Lewandowski got on the scoresheet by heading home Joshua Kimmich's cross.
Lewandowski did not stop there as he completed his brace in the 20th minute with a close range finish following a knock-on from David Alaba.
It was one-way traffic in the first half as Hamburg failed to register any serious attempts at Sven Ulreich's goal in the stanza.
Bayern grabbed a fourth goal 10 minutes into the second half as Lewandowski's flick found Arjen Robben, who sent a thumping strike past Christian Mathenia.
With Bayern comfortably leading, Jupp Heynckes introduced Thiago Alcantara and Sebastian Rudy after 66 minutes.
The hosts could have extended their lead on 74 minutes when Rudy sent a thumping effort just wide of the mark before Mats Hummels failed to hit the target from close range four minutes later.
The fifth goal eventually arrived with nine minutes remaining as Ribery skipped his way past a couple challenges before firing past Mathenia.
Bayern were awarded a penalty in the 86th minute after Thiago was brought down. Lewandowski stepped up but sent his effort over the crossbar.
However, Lewandowski did complete his hat-trick when Bayern were awarded a second penalty and he made no mistake to round off a big win for the hosts.
