Brazilian defender David Luiz was one of the biggest names to change clubs just before the transfer window came to a close, and it came as a massive surprise to many.
The player returned to Chelsea from French giants Paris Saint-Germain, who he left the Blues for in 2014, becoming the world's most expensive defender in the process.
Alvaro Morata returned to Real Madrid earlier in the window after two years at Italian giants Juventus, while Mario Gotze shocked supporters when he decided that going back to Borussia Dortmund was best for his career after a failed stint at Bayern Munich.
His Germany teammate Mats Hummels went the other way, returning to the Bavarians after spending six years at Dortmund following his exit from Bayern in 2008.
Arguably the biggest transfer of the window saw French superstar Paul Pogba return to Manchester United, having left the English giants for Juventus in 2012.
He featured just seven times for the Red Devils' first team before forcing a move to the Bianconeri four years ago, but – in a deal that saw the midfielder become the world's most expensive player – he has now returned to Old Trafford.
