The two European clubs are prepared to negotiate a swap deal that will see Eric Garcia and Joao Cancelo go to Spain, with Nelson Semedo going the other way, according to Spanish publication Sport.
Garcia is said to be the main jigsaw piece of the deal, with the centre-back – once a member of the Blaugrana's famous La Masia academy who is now on the books of City – said to be keen to return to Barcelona.
Citizens boss Pep Guardiola is understood to be a huge fan of the 19-year-old defender and wants to keep him, but Garcia has refused to sign a new deal so far.
With his current contract at City expiring in 2021, he could move on for free at the end of the next campaign. Barcelona, though, are believed to want to secure his services this year already, but do not have much money to spend.
The Catalans are also said to be interested in signing Cancelo, who has struggled to settle in England, as a direct replacement for Semedo, who has flattered to deceive since making his move to the Camp Nou. However, they believe Semedo's value to be much higher than that of Cancelo's, but with both players represented by super-agent Jorge Mendes, a deal could be possible.
As a consequence, Barca could offer the Manchester club Semedo in a swap deal for both Garcia and Cancelo.

Right now, though, talks are on hold as both clubs want to focus on the UEFA Champions League, where City will face Real Madrid in the second leg of their round of 16 tie, while Barca will take on Napoli.
